Q. What drew you to the music industry?

Santanu Roychoudury: In 1991, I have won an All India Talent Competition which actually fueled my singing career.

Q. Who are you inspired by?

Santanu Roychoudury: I seek my inspiration from Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore’s compositions.

Q. Please explain your creative process.

Santanu Roychoudury: I wont say it’s a process rather you can term it as a journey. A journey of 30 years with Music as my constant and ultimate companion. I strongly believe that music is an eternal part of Mother nature. We have numerous type of sounds playing all around us every moment but only few of us can actually feel it. As an ardent admirer of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore, I have always felt that all his creations are actually the path to attain that connection of mind and soul to the ‘Unknown’ and to dance with the tune of Life.

Being inspired by this I have also structured an institution along wih my wife Mrs. Nabanita Roychoudhury named as ‘RABIR GHAR’. The main objective of this institution is to guide people to accept and follow the positive path of life through Rabindra Sangeet Sadhana.

Q. What’s an average day like for you?

Santanu Roychoudury: My day usually starts at 7 in the morning, after completing my daily prayer, I usually plan my day according to my priorities. Apart from devoting most of time for my music, I also like to spend time in some spiritual reading & discussion with my close family & friends.

Q. Is there any hidden meaning in any of your music?

Santanu Roychoudury: Music can never have a specific meaning as it is infinite and unending however, if you ask me do I relate my music to anything then I must say that for me Music is a form of worship. I find it as a tool to connect with anything positive, be it God, be it a positive soul, be it a positive environment, be it a positive way to deal in life. Music is related to every single positive part of the universe.

Q. Do you collaborate with others? What is that process?
