Hey Amber, it’s so nice meeting you. How has everything been going with your music?
It has been great, although a little more quiet than usual! I still managed to release a cover song in December of Steve Perry’s “Foolish Heart” –one of my all-time favorite songs by one of my favorite male singers! The response to it has been fantastic. A lot of people have commented how they liked that I kept it close to the original arrangement –without changing it into a weird modern day type of remix lol. I feel that if you are going to do a cover of such a beautiful and simple arrangement like “Foolish Heart”, you have to honor it and do it justice, in the best way possible. Hopefully, I captured that, but in my own way!
You also shot a video for the song?
Yes, it was really nice and filmed in a skyline loft in downtown Los Angeles. The views were incredible and the sky was beautiful and clear that day, so the city was in full view!
What do you like most about classic songs from the 70s, 80s and 90s?
I just love the quality of the music, lyrics and artists! They were so much more authentic and would always manage to capture you emotionally when you would hear their songs on the radio and still do to this day! Sadly, a lot of the music these days sounds the same! I guess I’m just an old soul because I grew up with the incredible years of music, and I am SO grateful for that!
Who are you listening to at the moment?
Well, I never go by without having my daily dose of Mariah Carey, lol! But there are many other artists I listen to from back in the day, to some now. I really love The Weeknd, I think he is absolutely fantastic and gives me a classic Michael Jackson vibe, mixed with modern. He is very clever!
What’s next for you?
This year, I am definitely hoping to do a few shows and also plan on releasing more music, which I am really looking forward to –including some more originals. I really love synthwave!
What are your best words of encouragement for other artists out there trying to find their way?
Never give up! Learn to do as much as you can by yourself without having too many people running your career. The more knowledgeable you are, the better you will be in charge of your own destiny and artistry. Sometimes it takes years to get to that point, but you learn so much about yourself and who to trust, along the way!
