If Halloween & Christmas music had a baby, this version of ‘Jingle Bells’ produced by Thelen Creative could be it. The mellow & dark country influenced track is a derivative cover of the 1857 composition “The One Horse Open Sleigh,” originally created by James Lord Pierpont and first recorded in 1889.
“Jingle Bells” was originally titled “One Horse Open Sleigh” and was composed using fragments from various poems and songs of the day as an homage to the traditional Thanksgiving holiday sleigh races held across Massachusetts during the 1850’s.
The song “Jingle Bells” was first recorded on a wax cylinder in 1889, making it the first known recording of a Christmas song. The 1889 recording is lost to history but an 1898 recording by the Edison Male Quartette survives. Thelen Creatives’ version comes out Friday, November 26 on All streaming platforms with accompanying 2D Animated kids video available Thanksgiving day via Thelen Creative at YouTube.
